Muslims in Real Estate (MIRE) is an organisation dedicated to fostering inclusivity, opportunity and professional advancement with a vision to advance the space within the built environment for professional Muslims and neighbouring communities.

Meet the Team

  • Yahya Saleh

    Yahya Saleh, an apprentice at Workman LLP working towards becoming a chartered surveyor in commercial real estate, has been committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives since the beginning of his career. His passion for fostering positive change is evident through his significant contributions to community projects, reflecting his dedication to creating a more inclusive and representative industry. As he advances in his career, Yahya continues to advocate for diversity and inclusion, drawing on his experiences as a young Muslim to drive his efforts.

  • Yusuf Javaid

    Yusuf Javaid, a Finance and Mandarin graduate from Shanghai University of Economics and Essex Business School, is currently a senior surveyor at Cushman and Wakefield. His career is distinguished by a strong dedication to diversity, as reflected in his published articles on Islamophobia with the RICS. Shaped by his experiences as part of the diaspora, Yusuf is a vocal advocate for actionable Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives to drive real progress in the industry. Committed to fostering positive change, he aims to promote religious, ethnic, and socio-economic diversity in real estate and plans to establish organisations that tackle systemic barriers and support Muslims entering the surveying profession.

  • Umar Akram

    Umar Akram, a Development Surveyor at Hampshire County Council specializing in pre-implementation and smart building technology, focuses on creating environmentally and socially conscious real estate that promotes community well-being and inclusivity. With international business experience gained through his education and career, Umar advocates for cultural diversity and equity as essential tools for overcoming workplace challenges. His holistic approach to real estate, which integrates economic, environmental, and social considerations, aligns with the mission to foster a culturally inclusive and impactful industry.
